Nice beaches

The Istrian coast is more than 540 km long, includes the many offshore islands and is characterized by rock formations. Like the Croatian coast in general, it is famous for its stone beaches.

Stone beaches

The stone beaches in Istria vary from small rocky bays to pebble beaches to large stone plateaus. Many beaches are connected to hotels or campsites and have restaurants, toilets and recreational facilities. During the peak tourist season, Istria's beaches can be quite crowded. For those who prefer a quieter holiday, there are many hidden coves along the rugged Istrian coast where you can relax undisturbed. The stone beaches make sure that the water in Istria is very clear. The snorkel should not be missed during a holiday in Istria. Among the most beautiful stone and pebble beaches of the region are the picture-postcard beach Sipar, the family beach Cuvi, which scores with pine forests and our wonderful insider tip in Istria.

Sandy beaches

In addition to the many rocky stretches of coast, Istria also has a few beautiful sandy beaches. Bijeca in Medulin is one of them: Fine sand, clear water and a shallow entrance into the water make this sandy beach especially interesting for families with children. In summer it can get crowded here, also because there are a lot of leisure possibilities on the beach, such as an aquapark. Not far from Novigrad on the west coast of Istria there is another sandy beach: Lanterna combines camping and sandy beach. Numerous restaurants and shopping facilities on the campsite grounds and a pool bar directly on the beach make Lanterna a sandy beach for the whole family. Another sandy beach is Zambratija. Due to the shallow, sand-covered entrance into the water, the children can enjoy the sandy beach.
