Parenzana

The "Parenzana" is the most famous cycling route in Istria, accessible via cycle route 101 (on the doorstep). It runs on the old railway line from Porec to Trieste through beautiful landscapes and is only allowed for cyclists and hikers. Especially recommended is the section from Vižinada via Motovun and Livade to Grožnjan.

The path meanders over the valley of the Mirna, always in tolerable gradients over viaducts, through tunnels and many of the former railway stations. Information boards tell the exciting stories of the Parenzana train. For the 110 kilometers, however, a stable touring bike with wide tires is recommended. The route leads in places over very bumpy, rocky sections. Fantastic views of the bays of the Croatian Adriatic compensate for the hardships.
