One of the most important sacral buildings in Croatia is the Euphrasian Basilica in Poreč. It is the cathedral of the Croatian diocese of Poreč-Pula, which was built in its present form in the 6th century. Because it was hardly changed in later times, it is one of the important testimonies of late antique and early Byzantine art throughout the Adriatic; In 1997, it was included by UNESCO in the list of World Heritage. The basilica is named after Bishop Euphrasius, who had the church built between 543 and 554, incorporating parts of the previous building. The basilica and the surrounding complex of ecclesiastical buildings (atrium, episcopal palace, chapter house, etc.) are located in the north of the small peninsula, which is taken from the old town of Poreč. Plan a good hour for a visit. Entrance for the visit and access to the tower (definitely a good photo opportunity from all over Porec).
