In addition to olive oil, Istrian wine was also one of the most appreciated products in ancient times, which people from Istria successfully traded. Livija Druzila, the wife of the Roman emperor August, owed her longevity to the red wine from Istria. In recent years, the most famous Istrian wine varieties, white Malvasia and red Teran, have become increasingly popular even beyond the borders of Croatia.

Wine tastings are very worthwhile around Vizinada and Motovun. The nearest winery, our house and court supplier, is Bruno Ferenac in Ferenci. There you can get a nice Malvasia and a good Merlot. Also highly recommended are the wineries Benvenuti Vina (Kaldir), Vina Tomaz (Motovun), Vina Poletti (Markovac/Kastellir) and since last year our new favorite, the very friendly family winery Vina Radovan in Radovani.
